JP Matters of the Heart Fund Program

“The Extending of One Hand to Another.”

JP Matters of the Heart Fund was named in memory of Janis A. Pittman. Janis was a longtime friend of Becki Brown and a supporter of Hearts of Harvest Foundation. Janis served as Catering Chair for “Hearts of Harvest” in 2004. She unexpectedly died a week after the event at the age of 47. Janis believed in reaching families in our community that have children in a health crisis. There was a broader scope of needs to fill beyond helping children with heart disease, so we created the JP Matters of the Heart Fund program.

This program is funded through individual contributions and through other event revenue sources. This program works by offering grants to local families of our community that have a child in a health crisis. This fund works to keep our contributor dollars helping within our community and neighboring areas. Grant applicants must reside in SanJoaquin County or neighboring community.

The goals of JP Matters of the Heart Fund Program extend a hand to another by:

Supporting local families with children who are hospitalized and/or traumatized for a long length of time. Providing financial assistance (but not limited to) for temporary housing, transportation, childcare, meal vouchers, medical co-pays and deductibles, medications/medical equipment, funeral costs.

Supporting local families with children who require extra help in school, resulting from the effects of a health crisis. Providing financial assistance for diagnostic testing, medications not covered by insurance, tutoring and/or tuition.

Supporting local families with ill children, in partnership with Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin/Tracy Family Resource Center Healthy Connections.

It is the aim of the JP Matters of the Heart Fund to provide a minimum of (1), (but not limited to) grant of up to $1000.00 annually to families/organizations who meet the qualifications that support the goals of this program. Families applying for an HOHF grant must reside in San Joaquin County. A HOHF gift will be paid directly to the organization/business in which the service is provided to the family in crisis. The organization and/or recipient shall provide financial accountability to HOHF for payments allocated for the HOHF grant recipient.

The Grant Selection Committee of HOHF will review all applications submitted on an annual basis and you will receive notification upon the selection of HOHF grant recipients.

Friends For Hearts of Harvest - A Volunteer support program

All volunteers of HOHF keep our organization healthy by being a 100% volunteer non-profit organization. Without contributions of the volunteers’ God given talents and time, HOHF would not continue to grow or share in its bountiful harvest. Become a “Friend” for Hearts of Harvest Foundation. Friend Members serve a minimum of 6 hours for HOHF and give a suggested annual gift of $25 to $99. Friend Supporters give an annual gift of $25 to $99.

An annual Fall appreciation event is planned for all HOHF volunteers. Volunteers are the Heart of this organization and

Sarah Liamos Scholarship Fund

We are honoring the memory of one of our own heart children, Sarah Liamos, who loved to give of her time serving as a mentor to heart kids. Sarah passed away June 1st, of 2014 at the young age of 22. We have developed this scholarship fund to honor the memory of Sarah Liamos. The fund currently sits at $10,000. Its purpose is to assist students with a heart defect who are college bound, helping to with expenses associated with school. To download an application and learn more about eligibility Click Here. Hearts of Harvest Bi-Annual Wine Tasting Dinner Charity Fundraiser

For eight years, this outdoor event was held in a beautiful Vineyard setting in Tracy, at the home of Director Becki Brown. In 2014, it was time for a change and the 9th, 10th & 11th event was held down by the river in Lathrop, CA. 225-350 guests continue to look forward to a wonderful evening filled with inspiration, good food and entertainment. Silent and Live Auctions help to raise a majority of the funds that allow us to gift between $50,000 and $80,000 to our selected beneficiaries. Generous sponsors and cherished supporters from our community are responsible for the success of this "One of KInd" experience that will surely tug at your heart.

Fields For the Future Endowment

Since the inception of HOHF in 2003, an endowment was started, designed to help HOHF with its long-range planning and ensure security for the Foundation. The goal of the endowment is to apply the earned interest off the investments to cover the expenses of producing our “Hearts of Harvest” fundraiser event. HOHF is already a 100% volunteer organization but this would allow us to gift 100% of all sponsorship dollars as well as raised revenues, to our selected beneficiaries.

We aim to annually invest an amount as approved by the HOHF Board, which is raised from fundraising events and/or endowment campaigns that are held to raise dollars for the endowment. $146,500 in deposits have been made to date.

Harvest of Hearts” Direct Mail Campaign

When we are not presenting our main fundraising event “Hearts of Harvest”, we continue practicing our motto: “The Giving of One Heart to Another.” An annual direct mail campaign is conducted so we can keep doing some important giving. This campaign helps to support the general operation of the Foundation. After operating expenses are covered, all campaign proceeds go to those in need.

No monies are ever used to pay any volunteers or board members. Home offices, personal computers and cell phones are used to conduct the ongoing work of HOHF, with the invaluable gift of the volunteer donating their equipment and time to fulfill the mission of HOHF. Operating expenses of HOHF are kept low during non-“Hearts of Harvest” event years, so more dollars can be gifted to the families with children facing a health crisis.
