The inspiration behind this Foundation...
The children you see on this page have grown up with heart conditions. These are the kids we love to help!

Keep informed about the on goings of HOHF

Executive Director: Becki’s Beat
Spring has sprung and summer is on its way! Administrative duties keep me busy with HOHF and I have been enjoying watching some of our new board members take on new projects as they learn about the mission of our organization. One area that we have been working on is trying to increase the visibility of our organization within our own community. Board Member Eva Cedillo with Home Buyer’s Realty, got creative and headed up some PR work at the 2010 Spring Wine stroll in downtown Tracy. With the help of board member Claudia Nicolaou, together they raised closed to $500 for HOHF!

I was excited to see that our partnership with Healthy Connections Resource Center awarded another 2010 grant to a local family with a child who has a serious heart condition. Here is what the family had to say about our gift:

“This grant relieved the worry about how we were going to get gas or if we were going to have enough money to go back and forth from Tracy to Oakland. The grant also paid for lodging near Children‘s Hospital so we could be close to Dominic the first few days after surgery. We are extremely grateful for the grant and are happy that there are programs out there for families that fall on hard times like us. Thank you!”

Many of us have fallen on hard times in 2010…but giving to reputable organizations gives us back the blessing of JOY. It puts our hearts in touch with our happiness.

For all you terrific Leaders out there, here are some tips for Leaders in tough times:

  1. Face Reality as it is, not as it was or as you wish it were.
  2. See the Big picture
  3. Make good choices that have Courageous decisions, Priority decisions and changed decisions.
  4. Develop a plan.
  5. Learn from problems. When we fail, we either learn from it or leave it.
  6. Value teamwork. The true measure of a successful leader is getting people to work hard together.
  7. Give hope, for it is the foundation of change.
  8. Making it happen requires risk.
  9. Watch attitudes for an attitude is a choice.
  10. Trust God.
“God is too good to be unkind, And He is too wise to be confused. If I cannot trace His Hand, I can always trust His Heart.” - C. H. Spurgeon
